Fanshawe College is seeking applications for ESL Instructor positions in our English for 
Academic Purposes (EAP) program. We require experienced English Instructors to teach
international students and immigrants to Canada pursuing pathways and support for the 
transition to a variety of college and university programs. We are currently looking for 
qualified and experienced instructors for part time teaching positions.


Duties & Responsibilities:

- develop, plan, prepare, and deliver instruction based on program objectives

- develop creative and engaging learning materials, integrate appropriate learning strategies and technologies that demonstrate an understanding of EAP teaching and adult learning styles

- prepare, deliver, and mark quizzes, tests, exams, presentations, and assignments; provide constructive feedback in a timely manner

- maintain ongoing evaluations of learner progress



  • Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language or equivalent from a TESL certified institution; preference given to candidates with CELTA, DELTA, and/or TESL Ontario Accreditation
  • Undergraduate university degree, preference given to candidates with a MA in TESOL/Applied Linguistics or related field
  • Strong understanding of ESL principles, approaches, and techniques
  • Experience working in multicultural settings teaching adult learners (17 years and over) in a multi-level environment, preference given to candidates with experience teaching EAP at the postsecondary level and/or experience teaching internationally
  • Excellent communication skills in oral and written English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, consulting and coordinating with other teachers
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), experience with Desire2Learn or other online Course Management System (CMS) a plus

Position:              Maternity Leave Part-time (3.5hrs) – LINC Day Instructor, level to be determined

                                Hensim Centre, London Location



  • Provide language instruction to up to 10 newcomers following the curriculum outline (classes have continuous intake)
  • Ensure that the materials used are appropriate for the level of the students
  • Provide the language skills that will orientate  students to everyday living in Canada using the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing
  • Prepare lesson plans that reflect progression in language learning acquisition in accordance with the Canadian Language Benchmarks and Portfolio Based Language Assessment
  • Plan and organize in and out-of the class activities for students to enhance their language capacity and help to orientate them to the community life
  • Maintain students’ portfolios as well as attendance records
  • Submit a teacher’s report indicating topics, objectives, methods and techniques, and activities used in the class
  • Conduct evaluations and promote students to the next level as appropriate
  • Participate in Professional Development opportunities as they arise such as the annual TESL Conference
  • Prepare written reports and participate in staff meetings and training courses
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Language Skills Site Supervisor to ensure quality programming

Qualifications and Experience:
