Education:

Job Description:
The Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP) supports the early and effective settlement of newcomers to Ontario. The Co‐ordinator is responsible to help newcomers settle, adjust and contribute to life in Ontario improving their opportunities to become independent citizens. Programs provide traditional settlement support to newcomers through information and orientation sessions, group workshops, individual counseling and referral to community agencies where require to assist with settlement needs. Working with a group or an individual, the Co‐ordinator is responsible for developing a proactive approach to establishing an active diverse network of community partners working toward building bridges to connect individuals, families and communities with the ultimate goal of improving health and wellness, education, and social connections.
The operating hours of the Community Learning and Careers Centre is Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,with occasional hours on weekends and holidays. Actual shifts vary in duration up to 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, welcome and support newcomers moving into or residing in the area through home or office visits, facilitate settlement information sessions.
- Establish proactive relationships with individuals, participants, families and community recreation and service clubs, school boards, service clubs etc. in order to connect and determine current resources,programs and available services for newcomers.
- Contribute to program development through ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. This includes gaps in services and creatively working within a team to meet these needs under the direction of the supervisor.
- Liaise with ESL/LINC assessors to facilitate CLB language assessments as needed.
- Co‐ordinate, develop and help facilitate community meetings, events, presentations and workshops. Host guest speaker events from other organizations within the community to support the needs of newcomers. Participate in regional outreach activities such as community information events and job fairs in support of program promotion and client referral purposes.
- Instruct participants on how to use effective job search techniques, career decision making methods and personal management strategies; identify participants who may benefit from assisted services and recommend an Employment Needs Assessment; make referrals to community agencies as deemed appropriate.
- Assist participants to find appropriate resource materials, using computers, print resources and/or online applications in their community; source and relay information on the labour market, community resources,government programs, career development.

Job Description:
We are looking for ESL teachers to teach over the internet. Teachers should have teaching experience, preferably teaching children, ESL or alternative education. Native English speakers with North American or British accents are acceptable.
The job is part time (beginning at ½ hour per day, to a maximum of 2 or 3 hours), early mornings (6AM – 10AM) from Monday to Friday. The pay is $17 per hour; preparation time for each class is included in the hourly salary. Teachers are expected to adjust the curriculum according to the needs and abilities of the class.
As you will be self-employed and working from home, you are expected to provide all the necessary equipment for the job: a computer with high-speed internet and a headset, and appropriate teaching curriculum or resources. You must be able to run PowerPoint.
For qualified teachers, this can be a long term (years) job.
